Access control systems are an essential part of security nowadays. In the past, password systems were used for security but with the passage of time hackers found ways to bypass those security systems. Then the era of identity cards began. A biometric access control system works on verification. There could be more than one trait in a single system. The system first scans the person who wants to gain access to a restricted resource and then matches the data acquired from the scan with the stored data in the database. In this way, a person is verified and given access if he/she is found as authorized to access the secure resources or premises. Biometric access control systems are also used to identify a particular individual from a group of people. The process of identification is the same as described above.


Are These Systems Worth the Cost?

Biometric access control is a one-time cost system. It requires almost no maintenance. You just need to keep the database updated. This includes entering the data of authorized individuals for verification. As compared to older systems based on identity cards or password, biometric access control systems provide higher level of security. Breaching such security is very hard because duplicating biometric traits is virtually impossible. So there is no doubt on the level of security when it comes to biometric access control systems. They are worth the cost.
